 Seven Seals

In his vision of God's throne room John sees a scroll with seven seals on it. No one in heaven or on earth was worthy to open the scroll except Christ the Lord. Why does Christ break the scroll's seals and permit such devastation? Christ isn't ordering devastation and destruction. Such things already exist in the world. Rather, the description of Christ breaking the seals demonstrates his Lordship.

"These shall make war with the lamb, and the lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of Kings: and they that are with him or calls, and chosen, and faithful." Revelation 17:14

The Seal Judgments.

The first seal: The White horse. Its rider wears a crown and carries a bow. He marches out to seek victory. Some scholars believe the White horse stands for an outbreak of violence. Others believe it might actually represent the spirit of the good news. Revelation 6:1-2

The Second Seal: The Red Horse. Its rider is given a large sword and has the power and authority to make war. The red horse symbolizes a judgment of warfare accompanied by other disasters. Revelation 6:3-4

The Third Seal: the Black Horse. Its rider holds a pair of scales. A voice from heaven announces the lack of food. The Black Horse symbolizes a terrible famine. Revelation 6:5-6.

The Fourth Seal: The Pale Horse. The rider’s name is Death and its cohort is Hell. They put to death a quarter of the world's population. The pale horse is death in its various brutal forms. Revelation 6:7-8.

The Fifth Seal: The Souls under the Altar. Under the altar are the souls of those who had been beheaded for proclaiming God's Word. The events of the fifth seal unlike the previous 4 take place in the realm of the Spirit the breaking of the seal announce God's determination to judge those who persecuted believers. Revelation 6:9-11.

The Sixth Seal: The Great Earthquake. The Earth is overwhelmed with natural disasters people flee to escape God's wrath. The earthquake reveals the wrath of Jesus whose anger cannot be withstood. People cry out for the rocks to crush them rather than to have to face God. Revelation 6:12-17

The Seventh Seal: Silence in Heaven. The opening of the seventh seal begins with a period of silence in Heaven. The seventh seal begins the final cycle of judgments that lead up and to the final battle between Christ and his enemies. Revelation8:1
